Contact Wires are a critical component in overhead line electrification (OLE) systems, commonly used in railway,& Metro networks. Our specially designed wires ensure continuous electrical contact with the pantograph (the current collector on the train or tram), facilitating safe and efficient power transmission to electric vehicles in motion.
A grooved contact wire is a type of overhead conductor with a longitudinal groove running along its length. The groove allows for clamping and suspension without interfering with the wire's contact surface. Typically made from high-conductivity materials like hard-drawn copper or copper alloys (e.g., copper-silver or copper-magnesium), grooved wires combine durability, high tensile strength, and good electrical conductivity. This groove allows for the attachment of dropper wires and mechanical fittings without damaging the contact surface.
Standard sizes vary, with 107 mm² and 150 mm² & 193mm wires commonly used in heavy rail applications.
Grooved contact wires are used across various electrified transport systems:
Metro Project: Where compact, reliable, and low-maintenance overhead systems are crucial.
High-Speed Railways: Where consistent electrical contact at high speeds is essential.
